Some Frequently Asked Questions

How many families belong to Holy Spirit Mission Church?
Today Holy Spirit has 68 families registered.

How much should I pledge?
Your gift is dependent upon your family circumstances.

How do I pay my pledge?
Making an outright gift means your contribution begins to help immediately. If this is not possible, you can make periodic payments using the envelopes which will be provided.

Is my pledge legally binding?
No. Your pledge binds in faith, not in law. It is understood that your gift may be revised should a change in circumstances make that necessary.

Is this pledge contribution in lieu of regular weekly contributions to the collections at Mass?
No. Funds raised in this campaign will be used to pay off the construction debt. The Mission still has daily operating expenses for which the Mission relies on your regular weekly contribution.

How will donors be recognized?
All pledges will be acknowledged by a mailed card. Donors will be recognized on a plaque in the church inscribed with either a) the donors name, b) in memory of or c) anonymous.

Is my gift tax deductible?
Yes, your gift is tax deductible as allowed by law.

Can I donate gifts other than cash?
Yes. A gift of stock is considered cash by Holy Spirit Mission. Upon receipt of a gift of securities, Holy Spirit Mission sells the securities and the value of the gift is determined at that time. A donor can reduce or eliminate capital gains taxes through a gift of appreciated securities. A donation of property that is easily liquidated can also be a significant gift while reducing Federal income taxes.
